Field Day Fridays: Art + Nature Series
Calling all artists and flower lovers! Join Newtown Creek Alliance for our last Field Day Friday of the 2018 season where NYC Audubon resident artist, Autumn Kioti, will teach a plant printmaking & illustration class. Come celebrate native flowers and art and the exploration of where they meet. You will take a guided tour of the rooftop meadow while learning how nature and our urban areas intersect.
Interdisciplinary artist and scavenger Autumn Kioti combines improvisational movement, aerial arts, choreography, narrative, installation, sound and visual arts, activism and social justice. Using the natural world as an in road, she frequently addresses the issues of women's rights, reproductive justice, environmental and food justice. To this end, she scavenges bits of everything from history and literature, science and mathematics, to clown and mask work. Current resident artist with the NYC Audubon Society on Governors Island in NYC.
$10 suggested donation to NYC Audubon and the Kingsland Wildflowers project for art materials.
Family friendly event! RSVP here.
